London Welsh loses a loyal lifetime supporter
London Welsh are sad to learn of the passing of London Welsh supporter Owain Lewis who died unexpectedly at the age of 75 on the 25th October 2024.
Despite living in Wincanton, Somerset he would travel up to every game at Old Deer Park. RIP Owain
Owain was a lifelong supporter of London Welsh having been introduced at an early age by his parents Watcyn and Doris who were themselves also longtime supporters of the club.
He grew up in Pimlico before embarking on a career in the defence industry as a software engineer and lived for many years in the Berkshire/Surrey area before following his job to Somerset in the early 1990’s, where his loyalty also extended beyond London Welsh, as he worked his whole career with the same company.
Despite several moves his love for London Welsh never diminished and his daughters Wendy and Deanne can remember many visits to Kew Gardens, with their mother Lesley, whilst he was away watching the game at ODP.
Owain’s funeral will be held on the 25th November at 11.30am at the Mendip Crematorium where he will say his final farewell dressed in his beloved London Welsh kit.
Should anyone wish to attend could they please contact the family by text or whatsapp on Owain’s mobile 07801 810483.
There will also be a condolences page if people wish to add messages.
